Remote Adventure: Six Questions With Teresa Cho

Teresa Cho, Finance & Accounting

We sat down with Teresa to talk about her recent experience living and working in Thailand- 7,300 miles from her home in Washington State.

How long have you been with Camber and what are your areas of expertise?

TC-I have worked with Camber since July 2019, so 5 years now. My area of expertise is financial reporting and technical accounting.

What made you choose Thailand for remote work?

TC-I chose Thailand because I love the food and really didn't know much about the country itself. It also helped that Bangkok is one of the best digital nomad destinations due to its stable infrastructure and low cost of living.

What is your favorite memory from your time there?

TC-My fondest memories were meeting and talking to people. Due to the flexibility afforded to me by Camber, I was also able to take many side trips to Taiwan, Singapore, Bali, Laos and Hong Kong; also within Thailand including Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Ayutthaya, and Kanchanaburi.

What can you tell us about your projects and accomplishments during your stay?

TC-Through collaboration with the client, we:

  • Closed the books for their derivative hedging programs.

  • Pulled together disclosure schedules needed for their SEC filing.

  • Worked with auditors to complete required audit procedures.

I completed projects for my 3 other active clients including:

  • A review of revenue contracts related to a line of business.

  • Drafted an accounting policy, addressing potential issues.

  • Developed JEs needed for an entity rationalization project.

  • Developed an accounting argument supporting revenue recognition.

What’s next for you?

I am now planning my next trip in January 2025 to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. Luckily, again, my colleagues at Camber are very supportive of my new plan and we will make it happen.
